Hi darling,
Do you recall this seat?
Although several people told me it resembled a toilet (which is understandable, though not the intention), I'm here to share what happened next. I discovered this seat at a hard rubbish collection before we relocated to our beautiful home. Upon arrival, my grandparents contributed two additional (functional) seats and a matching table! Marvellous! The goal was to give them all a fresh lick of paint and arrange them in the front yard as a cosy spot (with the seat above providing a whimsical touch to the garden setting... the idea was that the lavender would flourish so it looked less toilet-like).
We're yet to have that garden, but I'm considerably closer to my "eccentric tea party setup" than I was back in September—the table and other seats are now painted and mismatched like sweets and funfairs. Here's what transpired:
I shifted the 2 seats and table into the rear yard for the painting work (this was during the Christmas holidays... I mentioned in January that I'd been tackling some projects... we've now reached a stage where I can share the results!). During this time, one of the seats fractured a leg. Oops. Fortunately I know folk who know folk. To cut a long story short, Mr Kendelle's Dad sorted it out and I collected it back last week (cheers Mr Kendelle's Dad!).
Meanwhile I set about painting the table and the remaining (undamaged) seat:
I completed painting the homecoming soldier last evening (with leg reattached... cheers again!) and tried out some colour on a teacup we had on hand (considering using a collection of these for the wedding)...
Here's the final result:
I'm eager to imagine them having a chinwag in the front yard on some verdant lawn... I might have to dangle some teacups to enhance the ambiance!
What's your take? Are you drawn to the striking hue or do you prefer the timeless appeal of white?
xx
