diy footrest: the scrap wood deluxe

Hi lovelies,

For quite a long time a while now I've been using a pile of discarded shelving as a footrest beneath my desk. Just in case you were wondering, yes, the small wooden door on the top is from the notorious tv cabinet:

Unfortunately, NO MORE! I've been pondering the simplest approach to fashioning a footrest for quite some time, and eventually, it occurred to me like a timber from a collapsed bookshelf:

Truly. What you're looking at is the base of a damaged bookshelf. Now, you could tackle such an undertaking the difficult way, or the little adelaide way. I chose the latter: I used our reliable jigsaw to cut it in half (lengthways) and nailed it together with some reclaimed nails all box-shaped. I then coated it with a vibrant spray paint I had sitting around. VOILA!

In case you're wondering, I'm not colour blind... I purchased the chair on special (it was substantially reduced) and at some point in the remotefuture I intend to restore it with a shade that matches the office a touch more elegantly (envision autumnal hues). I must, however, say sorry for the spider's web. That's on me.

What have you recently crafted from scratch? I'd be keen to learn from you!

Kate
