world day of social justice: get informed

Today is the fifth anniversary of the United Nations' World Day of Social Justice, established in November 2007. The UN aims to use this occasion to highlight global concerns including poverty, marginalisation and disparities. It serves as an important prompt for everyone to educate themselves and participate in vital causes. Here are some useful blogs from around the globe to help you expand your knowledge on these topics.

  1. The Sparrow Project champions initiatives for social change worldwide. It's an inspiring showcase of the constructive efforts communities are undertaking locally to create positive change.
  2. The UK Human Rights Blog concentrates on regional matters and is authored by legal experts from a respected firm. It provides updates on laws and judicial decisions affecting human rights. This blog is particularly useful if you wish to discover more about developments in wealthy nations.
  3. Amnesty International Australia Blog provides updates on human rights matters both domestically and internationally. If you're outside Australia, I suggest subscribing to the Amnesty publication for your own country or region, as these updates include locally-relevant campaign information.
  4. Foreign Policy Association Blog examines various policy matters, many focused on humanitarian concerns. Highly valuable and searchable by area.
  5. The Human Rights Doctorate Blog addresses PhD candidates researching human rights, though it offers excellent insights for anyone engaged in rights and social justice matters. Posts can be lengthy, though thoroughly rewarding.
