to pave or to bed, that is the question

I need your thoughts. I'm wondering whether I should pave beneath the washing line or lay turf beneath it instead. If I do pave (which I'm leaning towards, since it will allow me to hang washing on the line without my shoes getting muddy), I'm genuinely unsure what design I'd prefer, or how much of the space I want to pave!

So many decisions, let's have a cuppa before we make up our minds....

Here's a photo of the spot as it is right now (which isn't ideal... note that the bench and seats need to be relocated to the front, but were too difficult for me to shift out by myself!!).

Here's the leftover pile of pavers from the veranda and back garden (that said, there are also many supporting our retaining wall. If I repaired said retaining wall, those pavers would also be available).

And... Here's the layout of the pavers across the veranda and back garden to give you a sense of reference (sorry for the poor image quality... not certain what happened there...)

I'd naturally prefer to make use of what we've already got, though I'm doubtful we've got sufficient pavers to make a real impact on this undertaking! I'm also considering whether I might lay some "stepping stones" going towards the clothes line, then seed grass in the remaining areas... Or perhaps I could repurpose some salvaged timber we have about the place... Argh! It's as tricky as choosing at Subway. So many choices!

Note that I'm unwilling to invest much cash in a job that's merely to keep my feet dry.

Which style would appeal to you? Fully paved, not paved or somewhere halfway? Would you stick with the leftover pavers or go looking for something different altogether? Might you opt for timber scraps instead? Would you leave it untamed and sow grass?

Right then, I'm keen for your thoughts, share them with me!

PS I hope you're fine with me never being "fussily neat/tidy" for you? I'm taking it as given that because we're mates this is acceptable? Either way, just know that you're welcome to send me messy and unpolished garden pictures whenever!
