get started on that summer vegetable garden

Green-fingered friends, have no worries—I, your well-meaning yet somewhat clumsy gardening enthusiast, am here with helpful resources for all of us!

Despite my best efforts, the vegetable patch proves challenging. My problem is a lack of focus. I'm energised when it comes to sowing seeds, but then weeks pass with plenty of neglect as I forget to keep things watered.

I adore paging through gardening guides, though they tend to inspire rather than drive action. It's far too simple to lose myself in the gorgeous images and imagine what my vegetable garden might become. Not anymore! (she raises her clenched fist defiantly)

Here are a couple of excellent resources to encourage you outdoors in the garden this Spring:

  • Gardening Australia's Veggie Guide provides information on what and when to sow depending on your local environment (which is vital to establish, considering we inhabit a vast nation with diverse climatic zones).
  • The Diggers Club represents Australia's premier gardening organisation. They focus on supplying heritage seeds to gardeners across the country (meaning the seeds you obtain from them originate from non-GMO plants). It's an ideal source for superior seeds and the guidance you need to begin your own responsible vegetable garden. I've intended to become a member ever since I first learnt about them through Gardening Australia Magazine and I reckon this season will be when I finally take the plunge into heirlooms.
Do you know of any useful gardening resources you'd like to suggest? If so, post them in the comments section below! And if you've begun your veggie patch this season, please share your experiences and inspire the rest of us!
