| beijaflores adores you: Mmm. Mmm. Mmm... Is your complexion feeling peckish? |
Right, so the heading for this piece may not be something you'd ordinarily associate with my blog. "Really? The woman who bangs on about ethics is discussing skincare?"
Indeed. I absolutely am.
That being said, what I'd like to discuss has nothing whatsoever to do with beauty products or elastin. It's about living a balanced lifestyle that will (I guarantee) enhance your complexion.
1. Consume a minimum of 2 litres of water daily:
The most detrimental thing for your complexion is lacking hydration. If you're not consuming adequate amounts, your skin becomes dry and uneven and blemished. It can also lead to those shadows beneath your eyes- Yikes! However, take note: take your time. Our bodies can only process roughly 500ml of water hourly, so there's no point guzzling a litre early in the day and nothing afterwards- space it out across the day.
2. Quit overthinking and get some rest:
Shadows under the eyes, worry lines, dull skin... Anyone familiar with that? Insufficient sleep is to your body what running on empty is to a vehicle. When fatigued, your body has less capacity to restore and regenerate. Lying awake fretting generates tension, which causes blemishes and wrinkles (besides being unpleasant on its own). Your appearance invariably mirrors your wellbeing, and poor skin can signal how you're doing emotionally. Attempt to relax. Sleep.
3. Consume more greens:
Eating more fruit and vegetables will improve your complexion. Make a genuine effort to consume additional leafy greens, even if they're not your preference. That's it.
4. Spend time in the sun:
Given contemporary Western habits and concerns about sun damage and premature ageing, we (Australians alike) tend to remain indoors excessively. Beyond losing our connection to nature, studies suggest that numerous individuals, particularly women, lack sufficient Vitamin D, which researchers are connecting to various health issues. Whilst I recommend practising sun safety, please do yourself a favour and STEP OUTSIDE! Your skin and overall health benefit from solar exposure.
5. Embrace rosehip oil for radiant skin:
Oh Rosehip Oil! You're the jam on my toast, the stars in my night... This product is genuinely remarkable. A single drop of rosehip oil works like a wonder treatment for scars and revitalises parched skin. I apply several drops to my face weekly as a restorative mask and wouldn't be without it. You'll appreciate it later.
6. Follow Jamie Oliver's example and drizzle olive oil on...absolutely everything:
Following the crazes of high carbohydrate-low fat, high protein-low fat, high celery-low fat regimens, we've developed an irrational and unnecessary anxiety about oils. All oils. Whilst some fats should certainly be minimised, plenty of us are overlooking the advantages of quality oils. Olive, avocado, flaxseed, grapeseed, seeds... These are vital for sustaining wellness and achieving nutritional completeness. They're fundamental for luminous skin.

If you're still searching for a quality moisturiser and skincare line, select products without petrochemical ingredients (those unpleasant substances that strip moisture from skin and irritate eyes). Regarding conscientious shopping decisions, explore a few latest articles on the responsible shopper handbook and corresponding software. If a product causes skin irritation, stinging, or eye redness and discomfort, cease use immediately. Regardless of how stunning you appear. Stop using it. Got it?
That essentially covers my entire skincare regimen—I alternate between cleansing and moisturising morning and evening, and periods where I skip moisturiser for weeks. I genuinely believe that personal habits are significantly more influential than an expensive moisturiser product. Pick one from this selection. Just one. And tell me your results.
